The Asics Gel Nimbus 23 is a long-distance running trainer, constructed with comfort and breathability in mind. This style is for men and comes in a grey and navy body, with blue, black, and grey highlights.

3D SPACE CONSTRUCTION

This is the first product in Asics’s line to introduce gender-specific technology. To optimise for the individual running styles of men and women, certain areas under the heel help you to engage with the foam better, while providing a softer feel underfoot. Because of this, the forefoot outsole flex grooves are also different, depending on the gender. Similarly, they help you to engage with the midsole and generate a smoother transition.

GEL

Packed with technology, this trainer gives you cushioning for those off-road sessions. Because of the rearfoot gel, shocks are absorbed as you run. Moreover, it has been strategically placed for maximum comfort.

FLYTEFOAM

As well as this, Asics’s technology has made this trainer lightweight. It also ensures that it is as responsive as possible, while providing the necessary strength and durability to keep you moving. Your footwear will bounce back to its original shape after every run.

FLYTEFOAM PROPEL

At the same time, there’s an additional spring in every step that you take. The lightweight foam construction means less drag and greater toe-off, to keep you moving naturally. All in all, this technology creates trainers that are 55% lighter than the industry standard.

TRUSSTIC

For further stability, this model has a reinforced mid-sole, preventing twisting when you run. This has been achieved by reducing the overall weight, in order to create smoother transitions. As a result, your risk of injury is reduced.

ORTHOLITE

Inside this model, an Ortholite X-55 insole can be found. This is highly breathable material that can withstand moisture and provide long-term cushioning. It is also removable and machine washable.

REFLECTIVE ACCENTS

And, for those sessions during the early mornings and nights, you won’t need to worry about safety. Reflective details ensure that you’ll be noticed in low-light areas.

HEALTH BENEFITS

The features of the Asics Gel Nimbus 23 not only improve your performance, but they contribute to the treatment of certain foot health conditions as well. These include Achilles pain, heel spurs, knee pain, lower back pain, and standing posture.

WHAT YOU NEED

• A mild detergent or a clothing-safe soap (unless they are made of Gore-Tex, which requires a special shoe cleaner). Alternatively, use baking soda and water mixed into a paste; or a 1:2 distilled vinegar and water mix.
• A soft scrub brush or a toothbrush.
• A sponge.
• Paper towels.
• A sink or a container of warm water.

PROCESS

1. Wash the different parts of your shoes separately. First, remove your shoelaces and insoles.

2. Fill a bucket or bowl with warm water and add 15-30ml of mild detergent.

3. With a dry paper towel, clean off any clinging mud, dirt, or debris.

4. Use a soft scrub brush or a toothbrush dipped in warm, soapy water to clean the outsole (bottom of the trainer) by hand. Rinse with a wet sponge or towels.

5. Now clean the upper of the trainer. This is the part of the shoe that wraps your foot, and how you clean it will depend on what it is made of. Fabric, mesh, or canvas: Use a wet, soapy sponge and scrub gently. These materials can handle handwashing, but don’t submerge your shoes in water. Suede, nubuck or leather: Be aware that soap and water can damage or discolour these materials. Use only cleaning products made specifically for suede, nubuck, or leather and follow the product instructions.

6. Clean your insoles with soapy water. Scrub the surface thoroughly with a toothbrush or scrub brush, then clean off the dirt and excess soap with a wet sponge. Don’t soak the insoles or you risk damaging the foam and its shape.

7. You can clean your shoelaces using soap and a scrub brush under running water.

8. Once all the parts of your shoes have been cleaned, let them air dry with paper towels stuffed inside. This will help absorb moisture and maintain the shape of your shoes as they dry.

9. Once your shoes have dried, you can sprinkle baking soda inside them to absorb any odours or residual moisture.

DO NOT

• Do not wash your running shoes in the washing machine. Soaking your shoes in water can damage the fabric and adhesives!

• Do not use bleach or household cleaning supplies to clean your shoes. Stick to gentle, clothing-safe options.

• Do not dry your running shoes in the dryer, near a radiator or in direct sunlight. Heat can cause your shoes to lose their shape or come apart. Air-drying is best.
