Royal College of Podiatry.

What is the Royal College of Podiatry (RCOP)?

The Royal College of Podiatry is the premier podiatry organisation in the United Kingdom. It provides a range of membership services to podiatrists throughout the United Kingdom and overseas, including education, professional practice guidance, employment support, and malpractice insurance (UK only). All the College’s members in professional practice are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

What is the importance of RCOP?

The College promotes guidelines and standards of practice that are evidence-based, and ensure the safety of patients and clinical effectiveness, with a focus on outcomes. It campaigns to raise awareness among the general public and at government level, that good lower-limb health is essential, and that podiatry is a key element of preventative medicine.

Why is ShoeFit.uk working with RCOP?

We are working with RCOP because we want to help connect patients with an accredited podiatrist. It is our belief that patients can benefit from, and should be able to find the help that they need in their area.

In our experience as shoe-fitters, we have noticed that patients can be hesitant when purchasing footwear as part of their treatment. ShoeFit is here to help you find footwear that is comfortable, fit for purpose, and helps your podiatrist in recommending footwear to you. ShoeFit, together with the RCOP, can help.

Furthermore, in our experience as shoe-fitters, we see many customers with lower limb issues who are looking for footwear. They would greatly benefit from seeing a qualified podiatrist.

Why is a podiatrist important?

Our lower limbs directly affect our posture and upper body. Because of this, it is important that we take care of our feet, by giving them the attention that they need. Ignoring any pain or visual changes is not recommended, and may lead to issues with long-term impact. Seeing a podiatrist as soon as you notice a problem, can increase the likelihood of maintaining healthy lower limbs.
