Plantar Fasciitis.

Tissue damage and how this relates to your footwear.

What is Plantar Fasciitis?

Plantar Fasciitis is a common heel pain, as a result of inflammation in the band of tissue running from your toes, through your arch, and into the heel. This tissue runs across the sole of your foot that connects your heel to your toes, and supports your arch. It can be extremely painful and it can take a long time to heal, as we don’t really give our feet enough rest. The pain will often feel like a stabbing sensation under the heel, or into the arch.

If it is ignored, it will become chronic and this will begin to affect how you move. This will have a knock-on effect on joints further up the body.

Heel and arch pain can occur for many reasons, including Plantar Fasciitis. If your pain has lasted for more than two weeks without easing, please see a podiatrist for a diagnosis and recommendations. Heel pain in children and young adults can have other causes too. In this case, we also advise that you see a podiatrist for an expert opinion on the cause of the pain.

Causes of Plantar Fasciitis.

The Plantar Fascia is a long, thin band of tissue that lies directly beneath the skin on the bottom of your foot. It connects the heel to the front of your foot, and supports the arch of your foot.

The Plantar Fascia is designed to absorb the high stresses we place on our feet. There are reasons why you may get Plantar Fasciitis, including trauma to the foot, and too much pressure, which can damage or tear the tissues. The body’s natural response to injury is inflammation, which results in the heel pain and stiffness of Plantar Fasciitis.

How we can help.

We have footwear available that will help relieve the pain, and allow your Plantar Fascia to relax. They are tagged and searchable on our website.
